before the dawn
the birds are singing
a morning song

All night long
turn and toss
give rest a rest
if at a loss

And despite desires
to repose
mind is wandering
to and fro

In the morning
if goals not met
breathe out deeply
no regret

Practice letting go
and inviting in
gratitude expansive
every day begin
